How to Use Bleach for Laundry

Clorox® Disinfecting Bleach2 helps keep whites their whitest. Just follow the instructions below.

To Hand Wash or Pre-Treat Stains:

  1. Rinse
    Rinse to remove loose soil.
  2. Soak
    Fully soak garment for 5 minutes in a solution of 4 tablespoons (60 ml) of Clorox® Disinfecting Bleach2 or Clorox® Scented Bleach per 2 L of water.
  3. Wash
    Wash as usual with your favorite detergent.

For Front-Loading Machines:

  1. Add
    Add your favorite detergent to the washing machine before adding clothes or bleach.
  2. Fill
    Fill the bleach dispenser to the max fill line with Clorox® Disinfecting Bleach2 or Clorox® Scented Bleach, or add 125 ml of bleach directly to the washing machine.
  3. Add
    Add white clothes and begin the wash cycle. Ensure contact with bleach for at least 10 minutes.

For Top Loading Machines:

  1. Add
    Add your favorite detergent to the washing machine before adding clothes or bleach.
  2. Fill
    Fill the bleach dispenser to the max fill line with Clorox® Disinfecting Bleach2 or Clorox® Scented Bleach, or add 250 ml of bleach directly to the washing machine.
  3. Add
    Add white clothes and begin the wash cycle. Ensure contact with bleach for at least 10 minutes.

After you wash a load of clothing with bleach, it should be safe to follow with a regular load. As long as your washing machine is functioning properly there shouldn’t be any bleach residue inside, so any non-bleachable items you wash next should not be affected.
